What is EMCS and what are the benefits?
The Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS) is an online service used to control the movement of duty suspended goods across the European Union between tax warehouses and authorised businesses and traders.
Member States and traders/businesses can transmit data securely, monitor movements online in real time and get immediate validation of the electronic Administrative Document (eAD).
This makes sure the consignee is approved to receive the goods before they are dispatched. There is also on-screen validation and 'core checks' to reduce the risk of the wrong data being placed on the system.
