What are the benefits of registering for taxes online?
Rather than fill in a number of different online or paper application forms you can provide the information for all the taxes you want to register for at the same time. This reduces the amount of time it takes for you to register, reduces duplication and improves the quality of the information you provide.
In most cases you will be automatically enrolled for the online services associated with the taxes you are registering for so you don't have to do this separately. Once enrolled you will be able to do things like file forms and returns online and see an overall picture of your tax position, including payments you have made and amounts you owe.
It is easier to register for taxes this way. Online help and guidance is available on how to complete each section of the application if you need it. A question mark (?) icon on screen shows where further help is available.
You will have the opportunity to sign up for business help and education emails. This is a free service from HM Revenue & Customs that will provide you and your business with a series of tax related help and support emails that give clear guidance at specific times. For example, they could provide guidance about the type of records you have to keep, when and how to complete your returns and when payments are due.
