National Insurance number

A National Insurance number is a unique 9 character reference number allocated to each UK National Insurance contributor in the format QQ123456A. Any non-UK nationals who are registering for VAT that do not have a UK National Insurance number will need to provide a unique tax identifier from their country of origin.
