Tax credits

If you are claiming tax credits you can still make a voluntary disclosure. You should tick the checkbox on the Disclosure form to show that you have/are claiming tax credits for the year(s) covered by the disclosure.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will pass information about your income and gains to the Tax Credits Office. They will decide whether any changes are needed to the amount of tax credits that they have paid you or are paying you. Because there may be some delay in HMRC letting the Tax Credits Office know, you should tell them about the change in your circumstances yourself as soon as you can.

If you have made a joint claim for tax credits, you may wish to tell your partner that the tax credit award may be adjusted as a result of your disclosure.
