Lloyds underwriter

Lloyd’s isn't an insurance company. It's a market that independent insurance underwriters join together in syndicates to sell insurance, mainly through brokers, under the umbrella of the Lloyd’s brand name.

For National Insurance purposes the common terms used are 'Working names' and 'External names' and since the 1997-98 tax year both have potential liability for Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance contributions.

Since 1 January 2003 no new individual members have been admitted to the market. Please do not tick this box
