- Description
- Cylindrical Four Point Probe Head Used for the measurement of volume resistivity or sheet resistance through semiconductor materials such as wafers, thin films, ingots etc. A four point probe is a mechanical high precision probe which provides a means of making electrical contact at each of four points on a conducting or semiconducting material. The 4 needles are tungsten carbide rods whose tips are ground and polished. The needles have a means of electrical contact via a lead or plug to an electronic measurement apparatus. The needles are guided and electrically insulated by pierced jewels and are individually spring loaded. The object of the electrical contact is to facilitate the passing of a current and measurement of a voltage in order to determine the resistivity or sheet resistance of the target material. The probe is a consumable part. It is used in both manual and automated systems which measure resistivity and resistance of various materials.
