Description
A PFE (Power Feeding Equipment) is designed to supply power to the submerged repeaters on the optical fibre submarine cable systems. The product’s main function is as a DC-DC converter as the input voltage is 40.5 to 57 V dc and it outputs a high DC voltage, such as 3KW. which is used with telecommunication apparatus. The PFE is modular in design, such that a number of 3kW converters are connected in series to achieve the required output power. It is made from electrical machinery components, equipment, and parts. The land-based power feed equipment (PFE) is used to power submarine fibre optic cable repeaters for telecommunications shore stations and during cable laying and repair operations. The power feeding equipment provides the function of supplying a constant DC current stably to the submarine repeaters via the submarine cable. The system voltage is determined by the number of submarine repeaters and the length of the cable, and a higher voltage is required as the distance increases. It works by using single or duplicated power units to convert from a low voltage to the high voltage needed to power the submarine cable. With a control cubicle and cable termination box for interconnecting the power units, the submarine cable, the system earth, and the dedicated station earth. The size and configuration of the PFE depends on the current and voltage requirements of the system (0.5-2.0 amps.) The maximum rated output voltage available is 13,5kV. It is packaged packed with in a cubicle covering shelf made of aluminium.
