Description
This butterfly-style positive air shut off valve is used as a diesel engine shutdown valve. When there are hydrocarbons in the air, they can be sucked into the air intake, on a diesel engine this will cause runway, i.e., the engines increase speed from the air enriched with fuel until it damages itself. This valve shuts off the air being sucked into the engine and causes it to slow to idle or to stop altogether.
