- Description
- A Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) multiplexer/demultiplexer. It is a Channel Splitter Module (40CSM) which consists of a 40-fold multiplexer/demultiplexer with optical elements mounted in a housing for rack mounting with 41 bi-directional LC connections. One of these is for the main input/output network port. It is used for optically dividing the signals transmitted via optical fibres into several outputs of different wavelengths (demultiplexing) and for optically combining several input signals of different wavelengths onto a common output (multiplexing) for wired data transmission in optical networks. The dimensions of the product are approximately 450mm x 200mm x 55mm.

- Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: - General Interpretative Rules (GIR)s: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, Reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect – a. Part Two (Goods Classification Table Rules of Interpretation) of the Tariff of the United Kingdom (Reg 3(1)(a)); and b. Notes to a section or chapter of the Goods Classification Table (Reg 3(1)(b)). GIR 6 - has been used to classify the goods to subheading level 851762 - Other apparatus for the transmission or reception of voice, images or other data, including apparatus for communication in a wired or wireless network (such as a local or wide area network), Machines for the reception, conversion and transmission or regeneration of voice, images or other data, including switching and routing apparatus. Also classified in accordance with: Harmonized System Explanatory Notes (HSEN) to heading 8517 - Note (II) (G) (4).
