- Description
- The 8-Group Splitter Module is a Telcordia compliant plug-in module for a network equipment chassis. Overall module dimensions are approximately 216 x 185 x 41 mm. Module interfaces consist of a backplane electrical connector and optical connector adapters on the faceplate. Their function is the bi-directional data transfer in communication networks using Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology. On the receive direction, the 8GSM receives composite signals (up to 32 channels) from an input network port, demultiplexes (splits) the signals into 8 individual 4-channel ports and directs them for transmission to successive WDM channel modules. On the transmit direction, the 8GSM receives up to 8 separate 4-channel groups from the corresponding WDM modules, multiplexes (combines) the incoming channel groups into a composite signal, and directs the signal to the output network port.
