- Description
- The Vertiv Watchdog environment monitors primarily read and log temperature and humidity levels. It is possible the watchdog series can be augmented with further sensors for tracking other parameters. The environment monitor is designed for controlled indoor environments like server rooms. These monitors play a critical role in providing real-time monitoring of environmental conditions that could potentially affect the performance of equipment such as servers, routers, switches, and other electronic devices. The Vertiv Watchdog monitors can detect and alert staff to temperature fluctuations, ensuring that the equipment stays within optimal operating ranges. Overheating can cause hardware malfunctions, degradation, or failure. The main goal of Vertiv Geist environmental monitors is to proactively detect potential risks and issues that could affect sensitive equipment. When any monitored parameter goes out of the set range (for example, when temperature, power, or humidity goes beyond a critical threshold), the watchdog system will trigger an alert via email or SMS & SNMP traps. By receiving real-time alerts, maintenance teams can take corrective actions before issues escalate.
