Description
The 3.5m LEO (Low Earth Orbit) antenna is a receive only antenna. It operates in ku-band (12GHz) and ka-band frequency ranges (20GHz). The antenna receive signals from LEO satellites. The 3.5m parabolic shaped main reflector collects the RF energy transmit from the LEO satellites, and focuses it onto the smaller sub-reflector at the front of the antenna. The sub-reflector further focuses the RF energy into the feed horn, which is located at the centre of the main reflector. The RF energy is then guided down the waveguide feed to the output ports. The output ports are then typically terminated with LNAs or LNBs for frequency conversion and onward connection to receivers. The antenna main consists of: Main reflector, sub-reflector, waveguide feed, Pedestal and Tracking system.
