It is made from multiple components including: cast aluminium housing, stainless steel fixings (screws, washers etc), inductor assemblies, panel electronic circuits, wiring and electrical connectors. It is used to match the impedance and inductance of the sonar transducers with the Transmitter Receiver Unit to optimise the signals. The unit compensates for local variations in cable lengths on broad-beam sonar transducers. Additionally, impedance conversion and isolation are provided by transformer coupling.
