Description
Glass substrate, which is used to make photomask, which is used to pattern microchips in the semiconductor industry. The substrate is made of polished synthetic quartz or other glass material in squares with worked, bevelled edges. The size varies between 4 x 4 x 0.06 inches and 9 x 9 x 0.12 inches. The glass substrate is imported for resale to manufacturers.

Justification
Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: - General Interpretative Rules (GIR)s: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, Reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect – a. Part Two (Goods Classification Table Rules of Interpretation) of the Tariff of the United Kingdom (Reg 3(1)(a)); and b. Notes to a section or chapter of the Goods Classification Table (Reg 3(1)(b)). GIR 1 - has been used to classify this product by the terms of heading 7006 - Glass of heading 7003, 7004 or 7005, bent, edge-worked, engraved, drilled, enamelled or otherwise worked, but not framed or fitted with other materials. 8-digit code 70060090 - Other than optical glass. Also classified in accordance with: Chapter Note 3 to Chapter 70. Harmonized System Explanatory Notes (HSEN) to heading 7006 - Note (B).
