- Description
- Single Mode fibre optic cables. A Single Mode cable made from Bare Fibres, Aramid Yarn, and DCA pellets. Made by firstly preheating the optical fibres, coating, and colouring to protect the bare fibres and ensure their mechanical and physical properties. Then, a layer of protective material such as polyvinyl chloride or low-smoke halogen-free is applied to provide secondary protection against external damage. Multiple tightly bundled fibres are then grouped together and covered with a high-modulus non-metallic reinforcing layer and sheath material for double protection, enhancing the tensile strength and service life of the cable. A light travels down a fibre optic cable by bouncing repeatedly off the walls. If the light hits glass at a shallow angle (less than 42 degrees), it reflects back in again this keeps light inside the pipe. To send a signal through a fibre optic cable, a laser at one end of the pipe switches on and off to send each bit of data. Modern fibre systems with a single laser can transmit billions of bits per second. The laser can turn on and off several billions of times per second. Packaged in a plain polybag with a label.
