Description
A DME Indicator is a cockpit instrument used in aviation to display information from a Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) system. Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) is a radio navigation technology that measures the slant range distance between an aircraft and a ground-based DME station. It operates in the UHF frequency band and is often paired with VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range) systems. A typical DME indicator displays: Distance: In nautical miles (NM), showing how far the aircraft is from the DME station. Ground Speed: Calculated based on the rate of change of distance. Time to Station: Estimated time (in minutes) to reach the station at current speed.
