Description
A DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) module, (also known as computer memory modules or a RAM stick), is a type of volatile memory that provides temporary storage for data and instructions in digital systems. It enables fast access by the processor but requires continuous power to retain information, making it essential for short-term computational tasks across desktop computers, laptops, servers, workstations, and other electronic devices. It also provides high-speed access to data for active processes like running applications or the operating system but loses stored information when power is removed. The DRAM memory module consists of several key components that work together to provide temporary storage for data including DRAM Chips, Printed Circuit Board (PCB),Connectors/Pins, Serial Presence Detect (SPD) EEPROM chip, resistors and capacitors. Heat spreaders components can also be found on overclockable and high-performance DRAM memory modules to assist with heat dissipation, as well as RGB LED for aesthetic purposes.
