They are then received by a sliding headstock which travels up and down on a rail. inside this rail is the screw jacking mechanism that operates like a worm drive. The worm drive is rotated by motion from a gearbox in the foot of the jack. The input power to the jack is provided by rotational force delivered by a shaft. The shafts are all connected to a drive gearbox that is rotated by a motor and gearbox assembly. They are packaged in boxes, loose in a trailer or placed on pallets. They weigh about 120kg each, the foot of the jack is about 400x400mm, they are about 2m tall and the top of the jack is about 100mmx100mm.
