- Description
- A Cryo Electron Microscope grid preparation unit is used for both single particle and cell workflows. Depending on the procedure, users insert 5mm Electron Microscope grids into the device. The process begins by launching the system program through its software interface. Next, an automated tweezer sequentially picks up each grid, places it in a glow discharge chamber to clean and make the surface hydrophilic, then dips it into the sample. The grid is transferred to a viewing area, where users can observe the liquid on it. With the built-in microscope, the user initiates and controls the suction process through the software, deciding when to stop based on what they see. Afterwards, the grid is rapidly immersed in liquid ethane to vitrify the sample, then placed in a liquid nitrogen transport box for transfer to the Cryo EM microscope. The unit itself consists of metals, plastics, electronics, pumps, power supplies, and motors. Packaged in a Bounce case 700 with custom foam compartments for secure housing.
