Description
A set of hand held training instruments that simulate radiation detectors and emitters without producing or detecting radiation. The emitters generate radio signals that mimic a radiation source, and the detectors receive and display the simulated data on an LCD panel, including readings in micro sieverts. The devices are intended for educational or training use and cannot be adapted to function as real radiation equipment. Two of each unit are supplied. The detectors use 2 AA batteries, the emitters use 3 AAA batteries, and all items are stored in a purpose built, padded case.

Justification
Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect – a. Part Two (Goods Classification Table Rules of Interpretation) of the Tariff of the United Kingdom (Reg 3(1)(a)); and b. Notes to a section or chapter of the Goods Classification Table (Reg 3(1)(b)). GIR 1 - Has been used to classify this product by the terms of heading 9023 - Instruments, apparatus and models, designed for demonstrational purposes (for example, in education or exhibitions), unsuitable for other uses GIR 3 (c) - - Has been used as it is considered there is no essential character and therefore has been classified to last in numerical order within the tariff. GIR 5 (a) - Has been used to identify the type of packaging - Packaged in a carry case. Digit Code: 902300 10 - Of a type used for teaching physics, chemistry or technical subjects. Also Classified in Accordance with :- Harmonized System Explanatory Notes (HSEN's) to Heading 9023
