Description
Direct current 525kV submarine cable, which comprises of a copper conductor with XLPE insulation, lead sheath, polyethylene outer jacket, and single-wire armouring. It is designed to transmit high voltage direct current for connection to and supply of the mains electricity network. It is shipped on large reels, between 10km and 120km of cable on a reel.

Justification
Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: - General Interpretative Rules (GIR)s: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, Reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect – a. GIR 1 - has been used to classify this product by the terms of heading 8544 - Insulated (including enamelled or anodised) wire, cable (including coaxial cable) and other insulated electric conductors, whether or not fitted with connectors; optical fibre cables, made up of individually sheathed fibres, whether or not assembled with electric conductors or fitted with connectors. GIR 5b - has been used to identify the type of packaging - shipped on reels. GIR 6 - has been used to classify the goods to subheading level 854460 - Other electric conductors, for a voltage exceeding 1 000 v. 8-digit code 85446010 - With copper conductors. 10-digit code 8544601090 - Other than elsewhere specified within this heading.
