Description
Alloy steel wire supplied in coil form, cross sectional diameter between 5 and 7mm. Chromium content is at least 30%. Product is manufactured from steel rod. The finished product complies with the requirements of BS 5896 for high tensile prestressing steel wire used in prestressed concrete products including hollow core flooring, bridge beams, railway sleepers, piles and other structural concrete elements. During manufacture, the wire is tensioned within casting beds before the concrete is cast around it. Once the concrete has achieved sufficient strength, the tension is released from the wire, transferring compressive force into the concrete element. This improves the load carrying capacity and structural performance of the finished concrete product. Packaged with steel strapping and protective wrapping for industrial transport and storage. Individual coil weights typically range from approximately 2 to 3 tonnes.
