- Description
- An analogue-addressable optical smoke detector with built-in alarm sounder. This system cannot be used on any stand-alone basis and is intended for use only with this company's Evolution protocol analogue addressable fire alarm control systems and devices. It is offers a low-cost and low power consumption solution for provision of loop powered sounders combined with detection. This product is compatible with a number of other of these company's detector mounting bases including their dedicated beacon base, and the address of this product is set using the same company's hand-held address programmer. This analogue-addressable optical smoke detector utilises the light scatter sensing principle: utilising a light emitting diode (LED) and a photo-diode within its sensing chamber. When smoke enters the chamber, the photo-diode senses increased levels of infra-red light scattered by the smoke particles, and the detector then goes into alarm mode. This product comprises a circular outer casing made from polycarbonate FR-ABS plastic which contains metal terminals, connectors, fasteners and screws plus a populated printed circuit board (PCB) with an additional Omni-View LED attached. The only significant differences between this product and another detector of this company are the product labelling (specific to one customer) and the integral sounder operating on a continuous tone basis. The additional externally-visible Omni-View LED fitted serves only to indicate when the detector is being queried by its panel or to show that the detector is in alarm mode, it does not serve as a warning of fire to persons nearby and plays no part in the sensing function of this product. No physical or chemical analysis is carried out by this product, and there has been no change to the design, appearance or functionality of this product or its variants over the last 3 years. This product is imported specifically for this company and cannot be resold as an "off the shelf" product in general stores or by any non-specialist outlet. The product has an integral sounder but does not have any integral recording device, and this product can be sold singly in its own small cardboard box but it is more commonly despatched in larger cardboard boxes containing 10 or 100 units. The operating voltage is a 24 VDC to 38 VDC, it has a Piezo sounder device, and a weight of 145g.
