Description
A smoke detector designed to function as part of an analogue-addressable fire alarm control system using a specific protocol and therefore cannot function as a stand-alone unit. It works by use of an LED which emits infrared light that is received by a photodiode. Particulates such as smoke that cross the path between these two components interfere with the light and this is detected by the photodiode which will then trigger the alarm, however, there is no internal sounder within this device. In addition to smoke, the unit also detects presence of increased heat my means of a thermistor of low thermal mass. Another LED is mounted on the outside of the unit that produces visible light which serves to indicate that the device is operational. It is not put up for retail sale. Typically it is despatched in cardboard boxes for shipping.
