Description
An analogue- addressable photoelectric smoke detector. It detects smoke by the light scatter sensing principle, using a light emitting diode (LED) & a photo diode within its sensing chamber. This product is not designed for the purposes of physical or chemical analysis, just to report an alarm condition upon detection of smoke or heat. The primary function of this product is the detection of smoke, so does not have an integral sounder or recording device. The exterior LED serves only to indicate when the detector is being polled by its control panel or to show that the detector is in alarm mode. This product comprises of a plastic (ABS type) casing containing metal fastenings & connectors plus a populated printed circuit board with the sensing elements plus a dust protection mesh attached. This product cannot be used on a stand-alone basis: it can only be used as part of an analogue-addressable fire alarm control system. It can be sold singly in its own small cardboard box, but normally sold in larger cardboard boxes containing 10 or 100 units.

Justification
Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: - General Interpretative Rules (GIR)s: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, Reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect – a. Part Two (Goods Classification Table Rules of Interpretation) of the Tariff of the United Kingdom (Reg 3(1)(a)); and b. Notes to a section or chapter of the Goods Classification Table (Reg 3(1)(b)). GIR 1 - Has been used to classify this product by the terms of heading 8531 - Electric sound or visual signalling apparatus (for example, bells, sirens, indicator panels, burglar or fire alarms), other than those of heading 8512 or 8530 GIR 5 (b) - Has been used to identify the type of packaging - It can be sold singly in its own small cardboard box, but normally sold in larger cardboard boxes containing 10 or 100 units. GIR 6 - Has been used to classify the goods to subheading level 8531 10 - Burglar or fire alarms and similar apparatus 8 -Digit Code 8531 10 30 - Of a kind used for buildings Also Classified in Accordance with: Harmonized System Explanatory Notes (HSENs) (E) & (F) (4) to Heading 8531
