Description
The Nittan EV-PYH-SCI is a combined analogue-addressable optical smoke detector & heat sensor, incorporating short circuit isolation protection plus a range of heat detection modes. This product cannot be used on a stand-alone basis: it must only be used as part of an analogue-addressable fire alarm control system using the Nittan Evolution communication protocol & must only be connected to such a system via a suitable detector mounting base. The address of this product on its fire alarm system network is set using a Nittan EV-AD2-EXT hand-held address programmer. For smoke detection it utilises the light scatter sensing principle: using a light emitting diode (LED) & a photo-diode within its sensing chamber (now of the same optical sensing element design as for Nittan's EV-PYS product); for sensing of heat it uses a thermistor of low thermal mass. This product comprises a polycarbonate (ABS) plastic casing containing metal fasteners, screws & connecting terminals plus a populated printed circuit board (PCB) with the sensing elements above attached, plus an additional externally visible LED (also connected to the PCB). The short circuit isolator feature of the EV-PYH-SCI is intended only to isolate this device from the rest of its network in the event of a fault - it is not intended as a protective safety feature. The isolator will self-reset when the fault clears. The primary function of this product is the detection of smoke, hence the nomenclature applied for; but in addition this product offers a range of heat detection modes (A1R, A2S, BS & CS types), which are selectable by the fire alarm system control panel. The versions listed in the confidential information section differ only in their identification labelling, which varies according to customer requirement; they are otherwise identical in design, appearance & functionality, all of which are similar to the Nittan EV-PYH product. The external 360-degree Omniview LED serves only to indicate when the detector is being polled by its control panel or to show that the detector is in alarm mode: it forms no part of the sensing function of this product & is not intended to act as a visual warning of fire to any persons in its vicinity. This product is not designed for the purposes of physical or chemical analysis - it is intended only to report an alarm condition upon the detection of smoke and/or heat. This product is imported specifically for Nittan Europe Limited & cannot be resold as an "off the shelf" product in general stores nor by any non-specialist outlet. This product does not have an integral sounder or recording device. While it can be sold singly in its own small cardboard box, it will more commonly be despatched in larger cardboard boxes containing 10 or 100 units
