- Description
- The Nittan EV-PY is an analogue-addressable optical smoke detector, intended as a replacement for the earlier Nittan EV-P product. It utilises the light scatter sensing principle, using a light emitting diode (LED) & a photo-diode within its sensing chamber (now of the same optical sensing element design as for Nittan's EV-PYS product). The address of this product on its fire alarm system network is set using a Nittan EV-AD2-EXT hand-held address programmer. When smoke enters the sensing chamber, the photo-diode senses increased levels of infra-red light scattered by smoke particles; the sensor then goes into alarm mode. The product is similar in all respects to the existing Nittan EV-P product. This product comprises a polycarbonate (ABS) plastic casing containing metal fastenings & connecting terminals plus a populated circuit board with the sensing chamber attached to the PCB plus an additional externally visible OmniView LED attached (also connected to the PCB). The 360-degree OmniView LED fitted serves only to indicate when the detector is being polled by its control panel or to show that the detector is in alarm mode. it forms no part of the sensing function of this product & is not intended to act as a visual warning of fire to any persons in its vicinity. This product is not designed for the purposes of physical or chemical analysis - it is intended only to report an alarm condition upon the detection of smoke. This product cannot be used on a stand-alone basis: it must only be used as part of an analogue-addressable fire alarm control system using the Nittan Evolution communication protocol & must only be connected via a suitable detector mounting base. The versions listed in the confidential information section differ only in their identification labelling, which varies according to customer requirement; they are otherwise identical in design, appearance & functionality, all of which are similar to the Nittan EV-P product. The product is imported specifically for Nittan Europe Limited & cannot be resold as an "off the shelf" product in general stores or by any non-specialist outlet. This product does not have an integral sounder or recording device. While it can be sold singly in its own small cardboard box, it will more commonly be despatched in larger cardboard boxes containing 10 or 100 units.
