- Description
- The smoke detector incorporates short circuit isolation protection. It utilises the light scatter sensing principle, using a light emitting diode (LED) & a photo-diode within its sensing chamber. When smoke enters the sensing chamber, the photo-diode senses increased levels of infra-red light scattered by smoke particles; the sensor then goes into alarm mode. The short circuit isolator is intended only to isolate this device from the rest of its network in the event of a fault - it is not intended as a protective safety feature. The isolator will self-reset when the fault clears. This product comprises a polycarbonate (ABS) plastic casing containing metal fastenings & connecting terminals plus a populated circuit board with the sensing chamber attached to the PCB plus an additional externally visible Omni View LED attached (also connected to the PCB). The externally visible 360-degree Omni View LED fitted serves only to indicate when the detector is being polled by its control panel or to show that the detector is in alarm mode, it forms no part of the sensing function of this product and is not intended to act as a visual warning of fire to any persons in its vicinity. This product is not designed for the purposes of physical or chemical analysis - it is intended only to report an alarm condition upon the detection of smoke. It cannot be used on a stand-alone basis and does not have an integral sounder or recording device. While it can be sold singly in its own small cardboard box, it will more commonly be despatched in larger cardboard boxes containing 10 or 100 units.
