Description
A screening device that uses X-rays to examine the contents of aviation cabin baggage and detect any harmful objects such as explosives that may be stored within. It is computer controlled with a touchscreen and utilizes computed tomography technology to enable the operator to control it and view 3D images of the x-rayed baggage items including those of a high density. The system is typically installed at airport check-in areas, approximate dimensions are: 1440mm width, 1750mm height and 2700mm length. Weight is approximately 1982kg. X-ray power is 160KV

Justification
Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect – a. Part Two (Goods Classification Table Rules of Interpretation) of the Tariff of the United Kingdom (Reg 3(1)(a)); and b. Notes to a section or chapter of the Goods Classification Table (Reg 3(1)(b)) GIR 1 has been used to classify this product by the terms of heading 9022 - Apparatus based on the use of X-rays or of alpha, beta, gamma or other ionising radiation, whether or not for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary uses, including radiography or radiotherapy apparatus, X-ray tubes and other X-ray generators, high tension generators, control panels and desks, screens, examination or treatment tables, chairs and the like GIR 6 has been used to classify the goods to sub-heading – 902212 - Apparatus based on the use of X-rays, whether or not for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary uses, including radiography or radiotherapy apparatus; computed tomography apparatus.
