- Hydraulically Activated Expandable Reaming Tool The body of the tool is made from AISI 4145 steel. The moving parts which actuate to protrude from the tool are made from BS EN 10025-2 Carbon steel. The inserts are Polycrystalline diamond compact which is a synthetic diamond material. Utilised in oil & gas wells during the drilling phase to provide the option to open the wellbore to a larger diameter below a restriction. Tool range is 5 5/8" to 16" in diameter up to 118" long. Arms actuate on an internal mechanical mechanism via hydraulic force from the drill string. Arm's comprise of a steel body and PDC (Polycrystalline diamond compact) inserts. The tool forms part of the drill string and is rotated from a motor on the surface. The drilling fluid is utilised along with a shear pin mechanism via ball or flow only to activate the cutter blocks that encompass diamond inserts. Once activated the tool can then drill a larger hole size. The tool may be placed in a wooden crate or shipping basket depending on what the customer requests for shipping.
