Description
The machine is a fully automated multipurpose diffractometer cabinet. The radiation enclosure is equipped with wide doors for easy access. It includes two 19" rack positions for additional electronics (e.g. non-ambient controllers). The cabinet complies to the world's most stringent regulations on X-ray, electrical and mechanical safety. The emission level is below 1 micro sievert per hour on 10 cm distance, even with Mo or Ag X-ray tubes. The diffractometer cabinet is equipped with a 240 mm radius Omega-2theta alpha-1 goniometer and a source module for Empyrean X-ray tubes. It includes a symmetrically cut curved Ge(111) crystal, to deliver superior resolution and spectral purity versus the asymmetrically cut variety of Johansson monochromators. The monochromator is motorized for easy fine tuning of the alignment under normal operating conditions and is focused on the virtual line focus position of the Bragg-Brentano geometry. The monochromator removes the Kalpha2 component of the radiation from a Cu or Co anode X-ray tube. Also included is data acquisition software Data Collector that contains the following functions: data acquisition based on the XRDML data platform, measurement strategy determination tools, configuration and measurement management, automatic processing, data conversion and viewing functionality for X-ray diffraction systems.
