- Description
- The Hub is part of a Satellite Telecommunications system. The system allows in-service government and military radios to operate over commercial L-band satellites. It provides low-latency voice and data connectivity to tactical radio networks. The system is designed for use in a static operations scenario. The function of the Hub is essentially frequency conversion. UHF/VHF transmission is converted up to ‘L-Band’ and then back down to be received as UHF/VHF. It also contains intelligent power supply, RF monitoring and control functions. Frequency 240 - 311 MHz. The product has LNB (Low-Noise Block Down Converter) and BUC (Block-Up Converter) characteristics. The Hub outer enclosure is made from machined aluminium. It contains an Electro-Mechanical Assy: which includes another aluminium enclosure secured with SS A2 fixings which houses electronic PCAs, Acetal/Delrin mount, aluminium clamps, other electronic/electrical devices, coaxial cables, equipment wire, RF connectors, internal SS A2 fixings. The Hub has outer connectors which allow connection to an L-Band antenna, power and radio coax. The Hub is made using light electro-mechanical manufacture utilising soldering irons, mechanical wire strippers, heat guns, various general light assembly hand tools. The Hub is packaged into a Pelicase with bespoke foam cutouts, along with the other system components (antenna, antenna cables, earth cable, mains power converter). This is then packaged in an outer cardboard box for shipping.
