- Description
- An automated photogrammetry rig used to capture photos for the purpose of 3D imaging. The device is used to automatically trigger customer supplied cameras (not part of this classification) to take photos of an object whilst turning it on a turntable surface. The rig consists of two main components that work together as a single product. A computer module in an injection moulded ABS plastic casing; and a turntable module made from 3D printed nylon and CNC machined aluminium parts, containing a DC 12v stepper motor, and a motor driver wired up to an external USB port. Both devices have a separate power supply. Neither device can operate as a single device and requires the other to work. The user selects the number of photos to take, how many cameras to use, and other settings via the touchscreen from a user presented user interface (UI) application. The device will communicate with the cameras and the turntable unit over USB serial coordinating camera triggering with turning the motor. The photos can either be kept on the camera or downloaded to a supplied USB drive. The photos are not kept on the device. The device presents the UI to the user upon boot and wi-fi capability has been disabled in the operating system; therefore, the scope of the device is limited. The device is packaged in a heavy-duty plastic case with fitted foam insert and an external carboard outer layer. The package contains, a computer module, a turntable module, a removeable scanning surface, two power supplies, a USB cable, and a USB data-stick.
