Description
A ceramic seal face. Part of a mechanical seal. Mechanical seals come in a variety of sizes, design types and material combinations. They consists of three basic parts. A pair of seal faces a secondary sealing component and a spring to maintain contact between the parts. One is the rotary face for the rotating parts and the other a stationary face or seat face. The secondary sealing components are made of rubber and metal (O-rings or V-rings). Mainly used to prevent leakage of fluids between rotary and stationary elements within process equipment. The item is a stationary seal face made from alumina ceramic, also known as alumina oxide, and is one part of a three part mechanical seal. A round white ring made of alumina ceramic, a hard material which is resistant to wear and abrasion (Mohs scale 9). The seal is part of a mechanical seal used to prevent leakage of fluids between rotary and stationary elements. The mechanical seals are used in pumps.

Justification
Classification has been determined in accordance with the following: For the purposes of determining the commodity codes within which goods most appropriately fall, Reg 3 (1) of The Customs Tariff (Establishment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 sets out that the rules of interpretation contained in the following have effect: – a. GIR 6 has been used to classify the goods to subheading level - 6909 12 Ceramic wares for laboratory, chemical or other technical uses; other than of porcelain china; articles having a hardness equivalent to 9 or more on the mohs scale.
