Description
A pressure relieving alternating/dynamic medical mattress systemA pressure relieving alternating/dynamic medical mattress system that is a a specialized medical support surface designed and engineered to prevent pressure ulcers (bedsores), aid in the healing of existing ulcers by alleviating pressure on vulnerable areas and improve overall comfort for patients who are bedridden or have limited mobility. Key Purposes and Benefits: 1. Pressure Redistribution: These mattresses distribute a patient’s body weight more evenly, relieving pressure on vulnerable areas like the heels, hips, and sacrum. 2. Prevention of Pressure Injuries: By minimizing prolonged pressure on the skin and underlying tissues, they help prevent the development of pressure ulcers, which are common in patients who are immobile for extended periods. 3. Improved Circulation: Alternating pressure mattresses inflate and deflate air cells in cycles, which promotes blood flow through capillary stimulation, reducing the risk of tissue damage whilst aiding tissue repair. 4. Moisture and Temperature Control: Some models, like low air loss mattresses, provide airflow underneath the patient to helping to regulate skin temperature and moisture levels, two key factors in preventing skin maceration (breakdown) and infection. 5. Enhanced Comfort and Healing: These mattresses conform to the body’s shape, reduce shear and friction, and can significantly improve patient comfort and recovery outcomes. 6.Support for Caregivers: They make repositioning easier and reduce the physical strain on caregivers, especially in long-term care settings. Dynamic pressure-relieving medical mattresses—often used in hospitals and long-term care settings—are typically made from a combination of advanced materials designed to provide both comfort and therapeutic benefits. The common materials used are air cells or chambers with medical-grade nylon thermoplastic polyurethane or pure polyurethane, the air cells inflate and deflate in cycles to redistribute pressure and stimulate circulation. They form the core of alternating pressure and low air loss systems. The Top Cover made from Nylon polyurethane-coated fabrics, or multi-stretch waterproof textiles. work by Breathable, waterproof, and antimicrobial to protect against fluid ingress and reduce shear and friction on the skin. The Base Layer that has High-density foam or reinforced polyurethane helps provide structural support and stability to the mattress. Pump System (External Unit) , While not part of the mattress itself, the electric pump or Air Supply Unit is essential. It supplies the air to the mattress cells via feed tubes to control the inflation/deflation cycles and may include additional features like an adjustable pressure and alternating cycle timing settings, Continuous Low-Pressure therapy for immersion, Pulsation therapy reducing interface pressure by up to 40% and CPR quick-release valves. The Pump system/Air Supply Units, being much smaller than the mattresses will be packaged separately to the mattress that they are designed to be used with, and in quantities of 2, 4, 8 or 10 (depending on the specific model) for economy of packaging materials and volumetric weight, so when shipping the products, they are packaged the most economical way to reduce costs.
