Description: This product is described as an electro-mechanical device. Vibration test systems are used to produce controlled vibrations for measuring and testing the durability and reliability of various products and structures. The product simulates the vibrations that products may encounter during transportation, operation or environmental exposure. Breakdown of materials (by weight) will depend upon the configuration ordered but the following is indicative: Steel – fabricated or cast – 70% Copper – 10% Plastics – 5% Magnesium – 3% Carbon fibre – 3% Aluminium – 2% Electronics and other materials – 7% How it works: An electrodynamic vibration system comprises a controller (or signal generator), a power amplifier, a vibrator which produces vibration that the test article may be attached to or via a table, tables which provide larger surfaces for attaching the test article – these tables are called head expanders or extenders for vertical operation, and slip-tables for horizontal operation and are attached to the armature, a cooling system, cables and hoses to provide power, cooling and communications. The controller feeds a signal, or waveform, into the power amplifier. The power amplifier then drives the moving element of the vibrator i.e. the armature to produce the required vibration simulation. Items/products to be vibration tested are physically secured to the armature or table and therefore experience the same motion (displacements, velocities and accelerations) as the armature. The armature contains a conductive coil and is situated in a magnetic field. When an electric current is applied to this conductive coil armature motion will result. Heat is often generated by the vibrator and either air- or water-cooling systems, or both, are used to remove excess heat. Packaging: For shipping purposes, the controller is packaged in a cardboard box. Small amplifiers used on smaller force systems are packaged in cardboard boxes. Larger amplifiers use wooden crates. Vibration Test Systems which exceed 50kN output are classified as UK Dual Use under ECCN 2B116 Vibration test systems, equipment and components.
