A 1:1 system provides one spare LNB for one primary LNB. A 1:2 system provides a spare LNB for either of two primary LNBs. The systems consist of an outdoor plate assembly which mounts at the antenna hub, an indoor control panel and interconnecting control cable. In a 2 to 1 redundant LNA system, 3 low noise amplifiers and a redundancy switch are fitted together on an outdoor plate assembly that is fitted to the antenna hub. The plate is controlled by an indoor control panel through interconnecting control cable. In a redundant block down or block up converter system, a similar approach is taken. An indoor redundancy controller controls an outdoor switch box. In an N+1 configuration, there are several primary units (e.g., multiple LNAs, BDCs, or BUCs), and one backup unit. If any primary unit fails, the backup unit can replace the failed component.
