Description: An Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) An unoccupied underwater robot that is connected to a vessel by a series of cables. These cables transmit command and control signals between the operator and the ROV, allowing remote navigation of the vehicle. The ROV feeds back its position through a variety of sensors, lights and cameras to the operator on a vessel or rig to enable it to perform survey, inspection and construction operations. Capable of carrying additional sensors (for survey operations) and manipulators (for manipulating valves on subsea structures). The use of manipulators installed on the ROV in order to operate subsea tooling to install items of subsea infrastructure, such as pipelines, XMTs, rigging and derigging. The ROV is used in the oil and gas industry. The frame is aluminium and the buoyancy is a syntactic material.
