Description: Aluminium foil containers. These are the disposable shallow dish/tray type, made from aluminium coil with a thickness below 0.2mm. They are without lids and come in various shapes, sizes and capacity. The largest container has a capacity below 4 litres but variations all have capacity of below 300 litres. Description: Rare Mirror, 1960s, which is an example of Italia design, by Ettore Sottsass Jr. The wooden elements of the mirror are stained in different colours, their spatial relationship to each other and to the mirror, creating a calligraphic composition, which defines this collectors' piece. The architecture of this work, featuring abstract geometric shapes, recalls ethnic jewellery and shares similarities with the abstract language of the architect’s metal sculpture of the 1950s. The present lot also illustrates the architect’s interest in oriental culture. Variations of the mirror are documented in the books by Guia Sambonet, Ettore Sottsass: Mobili e qualche arredamento (1985), by Edoardo Paoli, L'importanza dello Specchio (1949) and in the period publication Domus (1959).

This sofa demonstrates the influences of European modernism in its form, which is sculptural and simplistic in its structure, and serves as an absolute example of Tenreiro’s fusion of European design notions with local Brazilian materials and lifestyle ideals. Tenreiro is often referred to as the father of Brazilian modernism. The furniture designer was born in Portugal and moved to Rio de Janeiro in the late 1920s. In the early 1940s, he established his studio, and by the 1950s, he was designing furniture for modern architects. The sofa is documented in the book by Soraia Cals, Tenreiro (1998).
